My education in Biochemistry taught me to ask better questions and quantify data without jumping to conclusions. And my professional experience taught me how to turn that information into action. Portland needs a government that makes evidence-based decisions with measureable results while holding itself accountable.

Let’s start with the basics, pothole and sidewalk repair, graffiti and garbage removal, and street light repair. Then let’s recognize that safety is a public health and community issue, making sure we are responsilbly utilizing available resources to improve our neighborhoods.
-
People who work in Portland should be able to afford to live in Portland. We need to continue expanding housing options, eliminate unnecessary barriers and support affordable housing to ensure our neighborhoods remain places where people can build a future.
-
Portland needs to conintue to invest in shelter, affordable housing, mental health and addiciton services while being honest about what is and is not working. Success isn’t mearly fewer people off the street in tiny homes or shelters, but helping people find their way to permanent housing.

Small business is the backbone of Portland’s economy. From bars and restaurants, boutiques, artists and crafters, these ventures are the engine behind our industry and culture. I know firsthand how much hard work it takes just to break even, let alone succeed. City Hall should be a partner, not an obstacle. We need to streamline the permitting process and enable our small businesses to better invest and grow.
